Bounty Family Report

The shape of motherhood is changing. More women work today than was the case a generation ago. Many combine work with motherhood. Rising costs of living, the pursuit of a career and scientific advances like IVF mean more women are having children later in life.

In this report Bounty paints a picture of the 21st Century family with all its variations. It considers women’s attitudes to family life, to work and to the way they raise their children.

In so doing, the report challenges some of the popular myths about motherhood which crop up regularly in the media and popular press, and seeks to paint a real picture of the modern family.

Throughout the report we highlight the differences between different groups both by age and social status. The most telling variations and those which will impact on purchasing power and social cohesion are seen when comparing by social grade, and it is these differences which form the core of the report.
